Fashion Design department, BGS & SJB Group of Institutions, Bangalore, organized an Industrial Visit to Karnataka State Sericulture Research And Development organization, which is located at Thalagatpura, near Kanakapura Bangalore for Students of I SEM, III SEM & VSEM have visited      

Students visited the art exhibition room, where they explored the works like spun silk garlands, dolls, bangles, flower Bouquet, greeting cards, scarfs, flower vas etc., which were done using waste cocoon. Students also visited the museum where the different types of silk worm, cocoons, silks, life  cycle of silk worm, diseases of silk worms, different types of mulberry leaves which the worms feeds on, silk raring stages, production details of silk throughout India and across the world were displayed.

Students also visited the cosmetics research Centre, where they tried with different types of lotions, masks, spray, night creams, multani mitti, shampoos, hair gels which are developed using the serein. And they also learned about  different types of research which currently they are working on, like spun silk fabrics, bed sheets, military wear etc.,

The visit really made the students to learn more and to think much on the research and development. It was a wonderful experience and students could interact with the Scientists in the field of silk. This was a great exposure and added value for the students and faculties.
